ABOUT CHOI+SHINE

Choi+Shine Architects is an internationally awarded design studio established by Jin Choi and Thomas Shine.

The Choi+Shine Design Store was established in 2015 as an independent entity, to sell the design products developed by Choi+Shine Architects.

Jin Choi holds a MFA in Architectural Art, and an M.Arch from Yale University. Her work has been published and exhibited worldwide, including the V&A in London. In 2013 she was selected by The Korean Institute of Architects as a “Global Young Architect”. She is the co-inventor of several patented works with Thomas Shine.

Thomas Shine received his B.Arch and M.Arch from Yale University and taught Architectural Structures at Yale. Before studying architecture, he worked in biotechnology in London, and later ran a firm developing medical equipment. He is the co-inventor of several patented works with Jin Choi.

Choi+Shine runs a studio for experimental design and projects that are not inherently architectural. Projects from this free-thinking studio vary greatly including academic exploration, infrastructure design, product design, ceramic, sculpture and patented inventions. Their most published and awarded projects are human shaped pylons, the "Land of Giants" and magnetic modular lighting system, the "BIT Light." Both designs are patented.
